Framing!

The magazines have arrived, I love them! (Posted below again!)

Which begs the question, how to frame them?!

I love the matting proportions here.

I love how they flank a mirror and the blue and white here.

These proportions and frame colour are lovely.

And more examples of simple framing to let the images 'do the talking'.

My current favourite is the frames flanking a mirror. I think they are destined for the dining room!

Cheap chair project!

Not your traditional ladder backs but I picked up these maple chairs from eBay for a bargain. I was looking for something with a fabric component after seeing the following images of chairs by Anna Spiro.

Amazing, right?!

Imagine a long lunch, with champagne and good friends around this setting!

Ikea has some hardy check fabrics, I pick the chairs up on Saturday so I'll be able to see what I'm up against. Even to use as hall chairs? We will see.

Adam can't help but roll his eyes at my chair obsession!

Around the house...

Just a few things of note around the house at the moment!

Artworks (given as gifts) waiting for the framer. (There is a lot waiting at the moment!)

A $9(?) plastic sorter from Kmart for my costume jewelry!

My new jug arrived and a belated birthday gift from Botticelli House! Stunning!

Candle crazy at the moment! Currently burning 'Water Lily' by Glasshouse. Have them burning nearly all day!

My favourite mantra for those long days with small kids - I'll miss the chaos one day!

What's happening at your place?

A beautiful party for our babes!

So the party has been and gone and we all had a wonderful time! It was perfect weather and despite my concerns about the kids being entertained, they played happily on Adam's playground and kept themselves busy! There was more than enough food and the cake that Jean made was nothing short of AMAZING!

Maddy and Will had a great time, young Will was so overtired but refused to nap for a serious case of FOMO (fear of missing out)!

After all the guests left our neighbours came over and we reclined in the backyard while Maddy jumped away. Took this on my iPhone and it really was the perfect ending to a perfect day. I'm proud of myself for not getting too stressed and enjoying the day.

Recollections/Early Settler - Windsor

I saw on IG that Recollections/Early Settler have more blue and white china so popped in for a look. (I bought a couple of bits.)

Loved this pink chair and ottoman!

Love the mirror!

And you can't really tell here but it's like a navy and white ticking.

Always lots of lovely things to find!

Planning a Picnic Party!

Madeline and William are celebrating birthdays this weekend! It's going to be a big party outside on the fort so praying for sunny weather. The lady who printed Madeline's first birthday invitations was so lovely to deal with, I sent her the following inspiration picture and asked her to come up with something.

I also love the ginormous balloons and have a couple ready to go!

A snapshot of the invite, details removed of course.

I bought some navy and white drill for a table cloth and raided the junk shops for party accessories.

Hopefully it all goes smoothly!

The Backyard - Part 5

I'm happy to report the play gym is finished! Including a little shop, perfect height for William!

Mum has constructed some curtains and bunting. It has had a couple minor adjustments since this photo. All ready for the party!

And it isn't really the backyard big my mother-in-law spent the day in the garden weeding in ready for the party! Aren't I lucky?!

Chairs, chairs!

The dining table is still under construction, however it doesn't stop me looking at the chairs!

Mum jokingly picked up this bentwood for $5 at a garage sale. I posted on IG that it was a full circle moment as I always used to HATE my Mum's rickety chairs but now they are in the list of contenders.

My favourite pick at the moment is these ladder backs, the detailing and colouring is beautiful. These are on eBay for about $1000 which is reasonable but holding off just yet.

Sublime detailing. Love them.

Lastly, these little bentwoods. I have seen them in House Beautiful but they aren't popular. I like the shape and colour.

Seems the old cross back chairs are getting bumped from the list!

Lately!

Hello!

There has been a bit of shopping going on around the place, trying to get some bargains here and there.

Firstly, my favourite designer Anna Spiro is attending antique markets in the USA and came across these vintage magazines ($1 each). She is going to frame them. I fell in love instantly and set about trawling ebay etc for my own copies. I found a store in the USA that keeps a sale-able collection and was able to get some (at a higher price mind you!) I can't wait to get them!

I saw on Facebook that Feather & Buzz were having a clear out and just had to have this jug. Love it.

Next is $15 throws from Woolies! Nice and warm!

I had seen on IG that Aldi have $5 flowers, I had to see for myself! We took the yellows when we went to visit a friend.

And lastly, a black coverlet for our bedroom. $17! With pillow cases! (Excuse the nose picker!)

I just love a bargain!

Dabbling in photography!

I love taking photos. Love it. Being a Mum myself I know how hard (and EXPENSIVE) it is to get some photos with me in them - so I gifted some time to some close friends of ours to capture some photos of them and their little man. It helps that they are incredibly photogenic - I am happy with how they turned out.

It's a lovely hobby to have and I hope our friends love them.

How does your garden grow?

So the front garden bed looks a little like this... Magnolia trees and a hedge full of WEEDS! Luckily I have discovered my new hobby, weeding!

Last week I had both kids outside playing while I weeded the garden below, not a bad effort with my trusty Ikea stool.

This little area used to be a herb garden but is very neglected. One year we grew lillies from bulbs so I am thinking we might try again this year. It is very therapeutic gardening!

Luckily we have a large block so I'll never be short of some weeds to pull.
