This week!

Hello!

I hope you are all going well, we have had a busy week - although I have managed to squeeze some shopping in!

Firstly a bit of window shopping at Recollections, I saw both the following buffet and cabinet. I am yet to post about our kitchen but the cabinet would be perfect on a blank wall we have.

Next up was Target and their home sale. I bought this 1mx1m canvas. Adam is yet to hang it but I think it suits nicely!

And a ceramic stool from the junk shop!

And lastly a small hall table from Kmart for $29. (Excuse the terrible photo!) Plenty of home bargains to be had around the place!

Master Bedroom bits!

The master bedroom always gets put on the back burner!

Firstly, my current jewellery storage is abysmal. It is an Ikea kids container! I have been eyeing off some jewellery boxes at Magnolia Interiors etc but the prices have been quite expensive. Instagram saves the day again, I found they were listed on downthatlittlelane.com.au and much cheaper! I love all colours - the pinks, white and Tiffany blue. I've added it to my birthday list!

Next up, I bought some black Euro covers from Target on sale. They look really striking with the rest of the linen (excuse the crinkles and wonky lamp haha!)

I had still been pondering what to do on the walls in our room when I stumbled upon this image via A Thoughtful Place Blog

So absolutely beautiful, I am going to have the below image framed very similarly (small picture/huge matte) and mount it above our bed. I think it will be stunning. (I would also love Euro feather inserts too!) Slowly but surely coming together!

Real Estate obsession...

Yesterday, Mum and I took Madeline on a special date to buy ballet shoes. After an exciting morning she fell asleep in the car close to Mum's house so we had a bit of a drive around.

Holy wow! This house is officially my favourite Brisbane house. Recently renovated and sheer perfection in my eyes! I tried taking a picture but the rainy day didn't help my cause.

Gosh I would love to knock on the door!

After a bit of googling, I came across this site; http://house.ksou.cn/index.php. It seems to me to be the back end of realestate.com.au and keeps record of past listings for a sticky beak. I have spent the good part of all downtime this weekend trawling the site - it lists the 'sold for' prices and it has been great seeing how much houses in our street have sold for lately.

Anyway, back to the house above. I was lucky to find the listing - it wasn't exactly decorated to my taste, but it has fabulous bones I could work with! Haha!

Virtual sticky beak!

I often want to have a look inside 'real homes' but short of knocking on doors to ask, I find myself trawling realestate.com.au for inspiration. I know that there is a real market for home staging now, I wonder whether some homes are staged or just wonderfully decorated.

There is one home I keep revisiting as it is 110% stunning. I have screen shots of the rooms for inspiration, here are a few.

Love the cabinetry and chairs.

Love it all!

Love the shaker cabinets and light fittings.

Love the chandelier, entry table, mirror - heck, love it all.

This was a different home but love the simplicity of the linens.

Oh it's so fun to look and dream!

Random musings!

Hi!

There has been a bit of a lull in house related things, but our little family has been busy.

Firstly, a night (kid free woo!) seeing the Rocky Horror Show. It was fabulous, Craig Mclachlan was fantastic. I snapped this on the way into the theatre. Dusk city lights, what a beautiful city we live in.

Mum and I took the kids to Eagle Farm markets last Sunday, amazing fruit and veggies, homemade wares and pony rides! I asked Madeline if she wanted a go, there was no hesitation at all! She loved it. I hope to go frequently, we go through fresh food SO quickly!

We had some family pictures taken last Sunday, our family and Adam's family. The photographer takes about 4 weeks, I can't wait to see them. I hope by some magic I look ok (the diet was going well, now it's not haha!) It was overcast and stunning at Roma St Parklands, perfect conditions.

I have seen this post on Facebook and have created an email for both kids. Since I can email photos for posts for the blog I thought surely, I could for the kids too. How fun would that be to read 18 years worth?! My kids won't believe I existed before the internet did! Haha!

Bits and pieces and the deck revisited!

I found the plan of a renovated Queenslander in a Home Beautiful, the plan is something really achievable/feasible here. My favourite part being the sets of French doors on the bottom floor.

This is it in real life, plenty of gorgeous light and a beautiful room!

I don't think this was the same house but I have fallen in love with this idea for the kitchen (which I am yet to post). We also have large hinged windows and I have been dreaming of a roman blind but wondering what to put on the walls. I am thinking of getting some favourite pictures framed similarly.

In other news, Adam agreed about the colouring on the front deck. He bought some tint and mixed it in with the oil and re-oiled the deck. It looks darker/more natural now.

With his helpers! Everytime I aim the camera, Will smiles - what a ham!

Front Deck

Our house faces west so our front deck is prone to the full brunt of the afternoon sun. When Adam bought the house the previous owners had lacquered the deck and lacquer/full sun do not go together!

This is particularly bad patches. It was peeling and accumulated dust easily, a mess really!

Adam had been waiting for a chance to sand and oil it himself but like every other job, has no time. He got a quote from the handyman who painted our house and it was $250 for labour plus materials. It came to about $500 in total. We had to move all the deck furniture inside!

The sanding progress.

The finished product after being oiled. It is great that it's even tone, but I don't like the colour of it! We are hoping to stain it with a different oil so it isn't so light/yellowish. Or maybe I'm just used to the old way it used to be!
