The Backyard - Part 4

There has been more steady progress today with the cubby getting 'built in' and the railings being completed. It is all yet to be stained so it looks uniform but looks pretty amazing! The circle is a plaque that will have an M and W for the kids names.

Looking inside, Madeline has a few cheap cushions from Ikea to sit on. Mum has been commissioned  to make some curtains!

Very nearly finished and looking fabulous!

The Backyard - Part 3

It has taken a while (see Part 1 and Part 2) but Adam finally has some time to continue building a fort in the kids play area.

It is taking great shape and Madeline is very impressed with her 'castle'.

The views are spectacular!

Adam has been creative in the roof line and the stairs. It's looking fantastic!

Admiring his handiwork with the kangaroo.

We are hoping that it will be fit and ready for the kids birthday party at the end of May. I'm envisioning lanterns and balloons tied to the fort and a picnic party.

We are so lucky to have a visionary and clever husband/Dad! To be continued on Wednesday.

Shopping lately!

Hello! Not much has been happening around here, I do have a few purchases that might be interesting to share!

Firstly, two prints from Lulie Wallace. Like many other purchases I followed the rabbit warren that is Instagram and stumbled across her art. I'm looking forward to framing them!

Next, a Ladedah Kids rug for MK's room.  It looks wonderful, photos to come.

Next, some polka dot decals from Urban Walls, inspired by this room by Petite Vintage Interiors. Depending how they go, I am also eyeing off anchors for Will's room.

Next, a cheap print from Ikea for the kitchen. Adam hung it and it looks great - neutral but interesting!

And lastly, a blue cover for our Ikea Ektorp foot stool. It has been re-purposed from Maddy's nursery after selling the armchair on Gumtree. If you remember this post I was inspired by a Coco Republic installation.

Getting there slowly and surely.

Photos, photos!

Following on from the fridge situation post, Adam has hung the magnetic boards for me. I think they look fabulous and I already love them. They are already covered!

I'm so pleased to have somewhere to put random photos.

The Real Deal...

Decorating on a reasonable budget (also considering two small children live in our home) I'm often fraught with whether a temporary fix is really worth it when in some ways, it never quite compares.

I've been on the hunt for the perfect fabric for cushions when I really wanted some Kravet. I adored the Ikat and short of importing it or paying a high price I have spent so long trying to find a cheap replacement.

Enter the craft show last weekend.

There was so much more variety than the usual Spotlight etc etc I nearly brought everything I saw.

And yet, while nice, I'm still stuck on the Kravet.

So last night, I found a seller on Etsy who makes cushions with the fabric I love (on both sides), so I swallowed my pride (and inner bargain hunter) and bought the bloody things! Haha! Anyone need some blue and white fabric? ;)

Then today, in Spotlight there is a cheap replica of the Karlsson clocks I have been eyeing off. It's $40 compared to about $150. So tempting, but really, I end up spending more money in the long run!

So I'm learning patience is a virtue. Again.

The Fridge Situation...

Is out of control. I have thousands of pictures on disk but I just love having prints to look at. Most aren't frame worthy but I still love them. Am I alone in this?! Ha!

So I've been eyeing off a blank wall in our kitchen... I originally wanted a cabinet for here but practically, it would obstruct the doorway.

I thought maybe I could get some magnetic boards from Ikea (SPONTAN) and arrange them on the wall in this style as below...

(IKEA SPONTAN)

I had thought about a display board like this, but I would probably have to make it and it might have ended up on the pile of unfinished projects.

So on Friday night, Mum and I took Will to Ikea and bought some supplies. It's so nice to have a bare fridge! Adam is yet to hang them so watch this space... It looks great!

Dining Room - Buffet, console or bench seat?

This is a bit of an inspiration post, but currently mulling over ideas for a buffet/cabinetry for the dining room to accompany Adam's table.

This one is from French and English.

Also French and English.

I love the additional seating in this picture, I have the perfect spot for one! (Repeated inspiration pic - follow my Pinterest link to the right on the page!)

And lastly, a buffet or console table from Yen concept.

The first buffet from Yen is the current winner, but will be bespoke using leftover timber from the table. The man who has processed the table wood for Adam can be commissioned for pieces, he recently restored the furniture in City Hall.

I'm really excited about it!
