Real estate shot when Adam bought the house:
I wanted beautiful long drapes in a rich fabric and to base everything on those. I searched high and low for the perfect fabric, to find a Laura Ashley one at 25% off. It had to be ordered from the UK so I painstakingly waited for it to arrive and I picked the curtains up the day before she was born.
I had a small swatch of fabric to search for other linens and trimmings. I settled on the confetti range by Bolly & Bear. I was originally inspired by her product shoot. I also decided on a personalized pillow.
I found some 3D shadow boxes with little dresses at a local children's store but sadly the colours didn't co-ordinate. I contacted the artist and asked for custom in pinks and taupes and she obliged. They are gorgeous.
I also needed storage, wanted a large bookshelf and a comfortable armchair. I found all of these things at Ikea.
I found a chandelier lamp at another children's store to finish the room, I originally tried co-ordinating fabrics with the curtains but the pinks were always too lolly-like. I had many moments where I wished I just for a simple design with Red Plum!
The finished product was overwhelmingly pink! These were taken two years ago and the change of beautiful nursery products on the market is quite astounding - I think I probably would have done things a little differently if I had another girl (the perfectionist in me re-analyzing) but it was still a pretty space.
I spotted a bunting at a local handicraft markets from Ruby Two Shoes.
There have been a lot of changes since the nursery edition and I'm currently working on the room. There will be more follow up posts!
